EconDecoded is a space where I strive to convince people that economics is everywhere. Here I decode economics in real life as it actually shows up. Not in books or overcomplicated graphs, but pop culture, sports, personal choices and lifestyle, entertainment, market manias, geopolitical failures, and anything and everything that we as human beings simply indulge ourselves in, on a daily basis. EconDecoded explains why things happen the way they do—and what economics has to say about it—without assuming you have a degree or the patience for jargon-heavy theory (I don’t have a degree either. I just pretend like I am authoring the next Nobel Prize Winning Economics Research with the ultimate solution to completely erase poverty from this world).
About Me
Hi! I’m Avantika, also known as Ava, a senior who goes to high school in Pittsburgh, PA, but I am originally from India, and yes, I am ready to expose the little economics nerd inside me here.
I’ve always been fascinated by how money, incentives, power, and decision-making quietly influence almost everything around us. From why certain businesses collapse while others dominate, to how pop culture trends reflect consumer behavior, to why markets rise, fall, and occasionally behave like they’ve completely lost their mind—economics, to me, is less about graphs and more about stories.
I’m also a movie buff (as the blog’s logo might subtly hint—bonus points if you catch the reference), and I believe the best way to explain complex ideas is through narratives people already connect with. That’s why this blog blends economics with storytelling, humor, and real— world observations so learning feels natural, not forced.
EconDecoded is my attempt to make economics feel human, relatable, and a little entertaining—because understanding the world shouldn’t require another boring classroom lecture or a tedious textbook.
